RYA/MCA Yachtmaster® Coastal Preparation & Exam
Improve your skippering skills and become a qualified RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal
Preparation: Since you’re already a competent and experienced skipper there won’t be much teaching. In stead, one of our Yachtmaster instructors will be your coach and provide you with constructive feedback throughout this session. You’ll be put through your paces and practice pilotage, night navigation, close quarters manoeuvring under power as well as under sail and any other areas that might need brushing up. The RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence examination is the next natural step for those who have completed the RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Course and have completed some coastal sailing since in order to put the lessons learnt into practice. 5 days intensive, advanced level repetition to sharpen up your skills before taking your RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Exam.
Exam: A qualified RYA Yachtmaster Examiner independent of our Training Centre will give you the chance to demonstrate that you are a competent Yachtmaster Coastal. Be prepared to answer questions on any part of the Yachtmaster Coastal syllabus and show that you can take full responsibility for the management of the yacht, the crew and the passages. Prove that you as a skipper are familiar with the handling and other characteristics of any vessel you take to sea. It is acceptable if you may not have had the opportunity to practice all aspects of the syllabus under a range of different condition.

After passing the exam: You are a qualified RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal.
Certificate: The RYA will awarded successful candidates with an RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence.
